Learning Italian – Every Day!

Are you trying to learn Italian? If yes, you should visit Daily Italian Words. It’s a beautiful website packed with great tips on learning Italian with phrases or vocabulary words shared daily.

Here’s an example. I smiled when I received an email the other day with the phrase of the day being “Ho Fame! (I’m hungry!)” When I visited my grandmother in Florence, if I said, “Ho fame” that was music to her ears. She was immediately in the kitchen cooking me a feast. Love = home cooked food! “Mangia, mangia (eat, eat),” she would say.

Here’s another interesting tip shared on the website. If you want to improve your Italian watch TV shows/movies in Italian with the Italian subtitles on, not English. Of course, if we don’t understand Italian yet, it’s easy to want to use the English subtitles, but they argue you are not focused on listening to the Italian language when you do this, because you are reading in English. I have to try this.

This is the first time I’ve found a language site fun and easy to use. My Italian is intermediate. The challenge when learning a language is not having someone to practice speaking with regularly, still with this website, I feel we can at least build our vocabulary, which is a WIN!
