Made in America – Wood Products, Socks and Ice Cream in Vermont

Have you heard of J.K. Adams, a family owned business, out of Dorset, Vermont? They specialize in the highest-quality wooden housewares and gift products. Run by Malcom Cooper, Jr, they are second generation, in business over 75 years. All wood species are harvested in North America.

They sell more than just rolling pins. They have a variety of wood products, but also stoneware bowls, wine racks, etc. I found them when I searched for the “best” rolling pin for making a pie crust.

Here’s a nice video on them.

Vermont is home to two other companies.

Darn Tough (company’s name) has been making socks in Vermont for over 40 years. They are a bit pricey, but I like them and they do last “forever.” I buy the light weight socks. It’s hard to resist the lovely colors / patterns. My only complaint is sometimes they are a bit narrow and I have a normal foot size. I called them, they said they were meant to fit snuggly.

Finally, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream has been in business for over 40 years. I’m not a big ice cream eater, but they do have interesting flavor combinations. They are having issues right now with Israel and Native Americans. Too much to go into, but Google them, because if you like their ice cream, people might start boycotting them.

If you know of another good brand coming out of Vermont, let us know.
