Manufacturing – Heavy Metal Tour 2024, Student tours

Did you know that October is manufacturing month in Wisconsin?

There are so many industries that young people can learn about. I had been working in magazine advertising sales when we were hit with a tough economy in 2008. I had to re-invent myself.

I was lucky to find a project management job in manufacturing for a CEO, who was willing to teach me β€œeverything” about manufacturing, ie procurement, vendor management, inventory, audits, managing employees on manufacturing floor, bidding process, root cause analysis, and more. It’s an exciting and interesting industry.

Here’s a YouTube video on students touring a plant.

I’d love to see companies creating internships for kids, it’s the BEST way for them to learn and get their foot in the door with a company.

Yes, I really like when students can learn about different industries / career paths. I mean, there is more to this world than just being a doctor or lawyer, right. LOL. πŸ˜‰

Yes, society has made students feel like they have to go to College, so they go in debt, when maybe they were meant to go to a Trade school, not be in debt and enjoy what they do.
