It’s sunflower season. I‘m always amazed at how tall they grow, but I don’t know much about them, so I did some investigating.
A sunflower can hold approximately 1,000 seeds. The seeds are found under the tiny blossoms. The bigger seeds are on the outside of the flower, which makes sense. I don’t have time to go to a sunflower farm this year, so finding a video was the next best thing.
4 Kids and a Farm had a good YouTube video, Harvesting Sunflower Seeds. The owner takes us through the process of cutting down the sunflowers, pulling out the blossoms / seeds and then roasting them. A fun family affair.
There is so much beauty in nature.
I definitely have a better appreciation for eating sunflower seeds now. Also, I want to try sunflower oil too.
Do you use sunflower oil? If yes, how do you use it?
