I came across a show that was talking about cast iron skillets. I’ve always wanted to use one, but I don’t know much about them. It seems like a lot of work to season them all the time. Maybe I’m wrong.
American Skillet Company is out of Madison, Wisconsin. Founding owner and metal artist, Alisa Toninato, came up with the creative idea to make an iron skillet for each state. Fabulous!
In this YouTube video, she shares her story.
They sell their skillets in different retail outlets. I wasn’t able to open their link. If you are in Madison, you can stop by their HQ, take a tour.

Wisconsin does have a nice shape. I guess if I only want to fry one egg, I need to look at the East Coast and choose Vermont or Rhode Island. Fried eggs and potatoes do taste good cooked in a cast iron skillet.
If you use a cast iron skillet, I’d like to learn more about maintenance. Share your thoughts. Do you have to season them every time you cook?
