Writing, the magic of your words…

For any of you who have children, you might have seen the movie, “Ella Enchanted.” Well, that story was written by Gail Carson Levine, who also wrote, “Writing Magic,” which I have been reading.

I absolutely love this book. It’s amusing, fast paced and full of ideas and writing exercises to engage your mind on developing plot, setting and characters.

Here is the author in this YouTube clip talking about her writing. She shares how her story on how Ella Enchanted became a movie. I find it interesting to hear a writer share their story from idea to publication. It’s not all glamour, as we would think.

What authors do you enjoy reading?

Have you found a writing book that inspires your writing?

Hi Kaushal, Yes, I liked how she explained that when her book was turned into a movie, she basically lost all rights to her story. I think that’s a bit painful. On the one hand, excitement to have your book used for a movie, but sadness to have no input.

      1. Yes, because movie makers distort the story to suit their audience/ market. I have seen the same thing here in Hindi movies too. I can understand the writer’s predicament. Thank you, Monica!
