2025 – United Air Taxi to O’Hare

This came out in the news last year. I meant to write about it. Apparently, in 2025, United Airlines (based in Chicago) is teaming with Archer Airlines to launch an air taxi service from Chicago’s west side to O’Hare.

The ride will take ~10 minutes and cost around $100-$150, similar to a XL Uber. These vertical lifting aircraft can carry about two passengers and 600 lbs. Beautiful, looks like a James Bond getaway vehicle!

When I saw this aircraft, fond memories of “The Jetsons” came to mind. As kids, we loved seeing the Jetsons zoom around in their air vehicles. Never though, did we imagine that we might ride in one, one day. That day has come!

I’m not sure I want to be the first one to take the ride. I’m afraid in small aircraft like this. Also, it’s a bit pricy. A normal taxi to/from airport to Chicago is between $60-80. Also, it depends on the location, right. If it takes you 20 minutes to drive to the air pad, another 20 minutes (signing in, air travel), you’d be at the airport by normal driving already. Need to think logistics versus how cool you are, right!

The day is coming when we each have a flying car and head off to buy our groceries!

Look for that blog post in the FUTURE!

  1. I will still stick happily with my twice-weekly delivery to my home from Ocado,
    the best grocer plus, online.

Joanna, yes, that’s good before they start delivering by drones.

  2. Do you know that the American animated series The Jetsons in Italy was entitled “I Pronipoti”, i.e. the great-grandchildren ?

  3. Looks quite snazzy but a bit out of my price range considering what you get.

I went to the Archer website. They will be doing this in Manhattan and other cities. They have a cool website.
