Spain – Nuns take over a bar…

Do you have a a trip planned to Spain? If yes, you might want to stop by a bar run by Nuns. Recently, eighteen Catholic Nuns (Pilgrims of the Eucharist order) have taken over operations of the bar in the Sanctuary of Nuestra Senora de Estibaliz outside the Basque city of Vitoria. The previous owners were a cadre of Benedictine monks.

I think this is a great idea. I’ve stayed at different monasteries in Italy and I always enjoy talking to the Nuns. Some are sweet and nice and others are real no-nonsense business women. It’s amusing to see them directly people around. There’s a great website, Monastery Stays, where you can view so many monasteries. They are not what you think. Some of the monasteries are like boutique hotels, beautiful.

Now, back to the Nuns. Here’s a clip from YouTube.

If I make it to Spain, I would definitely like to visit them.

Have a nice Memorial Day weekend!

  1. Love this post. What a set-up for a joke. A group on nuns walk into a bar. Bought it from some brothers. It became a religious family run business. When asked about, the Mother Superior replies. Nun of yours business.

A bit forced but the best I could do on spur of the moment since I am not in the habit of nun jokes. 😉🤣🤔🥴

  2. You are very kind, Monica. It was hastily constructed and at best, was not hopefully offensive to anyone.

I don’t think so. Even Joel Osteen, I listen to him sometimes, tells a religious joke before each sermon. We love those jokes.
