Fireworks in Chicago!

Visiting a friend last night in Chicago. Every suburb has their own light show.

July 4th firework shows were LOUD and went from 8:30 pm – 11:30 pm.

Here’s how it looked.

First photo, fireworks were starting low, 8:30 pm.

Second photo, fireworks started getting higher. Now, two light shows.

Third photo, three light shows going on, 10:00 pm and on.

I have to be honest, it was hard to be excited about this. We’ve got 35K migrants who arrived in Chicago. In addition, inflation is out of control.

Imagine if these cities would have combined their firework show to one town and used money from the two other light shows to help those in need.

Instead, they want to increase our taxes again.

We’re in a tough economy, when do towns stop wasting money?

Sorry to sound like a downer, but this was on my mind last night.

  3. Haha, yeah fireworks can be a bit much after a while. Still, gotta admit, the fireworks do look pretty sweet in your pics.

True, when we see so many at once, it is something. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy 4th to you too. You were quiet for a bit, I had a feeling you were busy with summer/kids, etc.

      1. I did go quiet for a bit. Not intentionally, but I went 2 weeks without posting on the blog. We celebrated my oldest’s 13th birthday, and everyone was sick for a bit. I’m glad to be on the other side of the awful summer cold we all had.

  5. It’s so hard sometimes to rationalize the cost of these things – we’re the same in Australia; fancy fireworks, unaffordable housing and food prices going up and up… sometimes I think we need the distraction, a communal event to say ‘life is good’, but other times, like you, I think of all the other ways that the money could be spent… it’s too complicated for me – thankfully I don’t have to choose! So true, it’s a distraction from challenging times. Good thoughts. 💕🌺

      1. I guess they made you pause and look to the skies for a little while… not always easy, but “good thoughts only” would be a nice way to live life! (You’re pretty good at that!) ❤️
