My first time in Salzburg, it was beautiful. Many of us grew up watching “The Sound of Music.” We know all the songs. So, of course, first stop in Salzburg would be “The Sound of Music” tour.
First off, love the bus! Our guide was a British fellow. Interesting to learn how certain scenes were fabricated, but “that’s Hollywood!”

You are probably wondering… WHAT… what could have been fabricated? Well, I don’t want to give a lot away, then you wouldn’t enjoy the tour one day. However, there were two different houses used in the movie.
Remember the yellow wall in the beginning of the movie, when Julie Andrews has her guitar, she’s singing and reaches the gate in front of the house? How perfect that yellow wall was, right.
Well… THEN there is the grand white house, where they have the boat scene, remember? The boat tips over, etc. A different house was used.

The gazebo has been moved, it’s not at the house. Of course, they know tourists want to see that, so here it is in its glory.

We didn’t go by Nonnberg Abbey, that we would have to do on our own. I did not have time to do it. Limited to what the Sisters would let us tour as they are a functioning abbey. We did drive by it, a side view.

The church wedding was not at the abbey as it appears in the movie. We went to a town called, “Mondsee” to see the church.

We did a lot of singing, listened to the music, it was FUN!
It’s time to find the movie. I will watch with FRESH eyes!
I’m already humming many of the songs!! Perfect for the holidays!
