Orchids – How do you make them bloom again?

For my birthday, my daughter gave me a little orchid. It had a purple flower and bloomed for quite a while. I enjoyed seeing it every day.

Now, as you see, the flowers are gone. It’s still thriving, because it grew a new leaf. I’ve given it orchid food, but I’m not seeing flower progress.

Are there any orchid experts out there? What else do I need to do?

Repot it, yes, I know. That’s a project for this weekend. Anything else?

They are a beautiful flower with unique faces if you zoom in.

When I asked a friend what to do, he said, “Just buy a NEW one.” OK, I laughed thinking, “What a lazy response, certainly not a flower lover.”

Have a wonderful weekend!

Yes, I have to do some research on this. Geraniums are nice, you pluck them and not long after they have new blooms. This one though, it takes a lot of patience. 🙂 I haven’t been on WP much lately. I need to head over and see how Buddy / Holly and the young one are doing.

Yes, I need to research and stop by a gardening center. Maybe in a few months I’ll have a photo with NEW blooms. 😉💕

  3. I have three in pots that I got over the years for Mothers Day and they keep blooming each year (though they tend to go sideways not upright) – we’re 3 days into spring and the buds are starting to pop out – it’s very exciting! Thanks for a lovely post, Linda xx

Have you done anything special? Just water? Mine is doing well, it just isn’t blooming.

      1. So just a little bit of water… and patience… I had one skip a year of blooming, but flowered the next year… but all of them go off in strange directions… never straight up like when you buy them. 🙃

Ok, thanks, that’s encouraging and a bit like our own personalities, right… curvy versus straight and narrow. 😉
