Acorns and the evil squirrel?

Recently, I went walking in a new neighborhood. I was enjoying the walk and the Fall weather. Suddenly, I was being hit on the head with what felt like small rocks. Many of them.

Our minds are amazing. It’s interesting when something happens, what our mind thinks. For example, my first thought was of a hail storm. No, cannot be, I thought, no thunderstorms.

Then I thought of my twin brother when he used to fling rubber bands at my head. YES, that thought came to mind. I would repeatedly tell my twin to cut it out. He wouldn’t. Last resort, I went to my Mom. It was maddening to hear her say, “He loves you, he wouldn’t do that.”

REALLY, while she said this, he was smiling behind her back at me in victory. My mother said this, because she didn’t want to deal with sorting out sibling issues. There were four kids in our family, she was tired.

Finally, I thought of an evil squirrel up in the tree. Getting back at a human, me, by pelting me with these small acorns. What joy he must feel hidden way up in the tree! Take that, you human, for always running me off your property and not leaving me food to eat.

As I looked at the ground and then up in the tree, I smiled and thought how amazing nature is. Acorns are beautiful.

FYI – I was very quick about looking at the acorns, the tree was HUGE and the acorns kept falling on my head. They do hurt when they hit your head.

Next nature walk – avoid acorn trees!

Not only acorn trees, but also chestnut trees must be carefully avoided

  2. So the tree was just releasing acorns or was a squirrel pelting you like in a cartoon? Fun post, Monica.

  3. Loved the post Monica. I do miss my friendship with my brother who was always punching me in the shoulder growing up – but not that part of it! We have one particularly angry red squirrel on our island who drops pine cones on me from above and chirps at me constantly!

Lillie, That’s so funny, because I walked by a tree today and there was a squirrel screaming and yelling about something. I rarely hear them, but today, it sounded like an angry wife or Mom where the husband or child did not take out the trash for the trash man and she had to do it. LOL Thank you for stopping by. I enjoy your posts too!
