This weekend, my daughter ran the 45th Annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon. It was a goal of hers. Itβs hard to win the lottery to gain a spot to run, but she did it. One year of training came down to this past Sunday, 26.2 miles around the city.
I have to say, it was exciting. AMAZING to see so many runners, all ages, zooming by. At all the stops, on the route, people cheering, etc.
People were kind and orderly. No pushing and shoving, the βLβ train was FREE during the race. We were surprised by that. So many road closures that we had to commute by train to different mile markers on the route.
It was nice to walk downtown without cars driving by. An entirely new experience. You can see from the map, the entire downtown Chicago area was closed off.

We got LUCKY and saw her running toward the FINISH line. She was tired, she was sore, but boy was she excited to have finished.
Two large medals as proof!
VICTORY was finally at hand! PROUD of her!!
