Herbal Tea – Twinings (Marketing & New Packaging)

There are many different Lemon & Ginger Herbal tea brands out there. While they might have the same Lemon/Ginger name each have distinct flavors. There is a brand I bought once, somewhere, canโ€™t find it again called, โ€œTeekanne,โ€ a German brand. I really liked the flavor, but alas, no where to be found and on Amazon, expensive. I had to choose a brand that I can readily find at grocery store. After trying a few different brands, I settled on Twinings.

I noticed they changed their packaging. When I got home, decided to do a side/by/side to see what was different. It appears they wanted their brand/flavor/message to stand out. Makes sense, there are so many tea brands to choose from now.

They focused on a lot, ie Twinings est, 1706/London, 50 Value Pack, Enjoy Hot or Iced, 300 years of experience, Naturally Caffeine-Free and Helps Soothe Digestion.

I worked in advertising sales/marketing for quite a few years. I can only imagine how many iterations of the design, wording, along with upper management approvals took place BEFORE they received the โ€œgreen lightโ€ to PRINT!

Oh, they added this note from the Master Blender.

My write up is complete. Now, itโ€™s time to enjoy a cup of tea. Thank you Twinings!

  1. Delightful. I love making Sun tea from green tea with lemon ๐Ÿ‹.

    1. How do you do that. You mean a jar with green tea/lemon and you put in the sun? LOLโ€ฆ Iโ€™m trying to imagine it.

      1. Each teabag includes green tea with lemon seasoning. I put four tea bags in a half gallon pitcher, let it sit on the back porch for a half hour, bring it in squeeze the water out the tea bags, and put the tea in the fridge. I usually pour over ice cubes and it is good for up to a week if not empty earlier.

      5. I’ve used two different brands. Can’t remember what the other one was. Both had a reasonably good green/tea lemon taste.

  3. I must be old-fashioned because I like the packaging they had before; it seems more ‘soothing’ than being yelled at about the value… I get it… but…

PS: because I appreciate you being my new blog-buddy so much and I really love the thoughtful comments you leave on my posts, I’ve done a call out of your blog – hope that’s ok. Best wishes, Linda xox

Linda, that was so sweet of you. Of course, happy for the call out. I felt the way you did. The old packaging looked traditional, the new one is a bit modern and โ€œin your face,โ€ but they are competing with a lot of new tea brands, that must be why they changed the packaging. ๐Ÿ’•

      1. Sounds like life in general I guess – everyone calling out for attention – shame in a way, not very marketing of me, but I miss quality over quantity! Good thing I know what herbal tea tastes like and which ones I like, so I tend to bypass packaging and stick to brands. xox
