Fitness – The Weighted Vest

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about using a “weighted vest” when walking.

A part of me finds this amusing.

Let’s say a person works hard to lose weight. So, off goes 30, 40, 50+ lbs. Now, they walk faster, feel good. They eliminated the heavy weight on their heart, knees and hips, never to go back. They can live longer, hoorah!

Suddenly, they feel the need to re-add weights to their walk.

Social media says so!

To be honest… I don’t get it.

I mean, if they are training for a hiking trip, OK. They need to get used to the weight of the backpack, but in every day life, add weights?

Shaking my head. I remember when the media said we couldn’t eat eggs, you’ll get high cholesterol. Now, eat as many eggs as you want.

Thoughts… Is this all hype… OR… Do you vest up?

Have a great weekend!

  1. It seems a little strange to me, perhaps only useful if one is training to carry the weight of a backpack.
